Traveling...

Hi friends!

Because of the earthquake in Christchurch, Lincoln decided to postpone the start of classes until March 14th. I really feel like it's time to go to school now, so it's quite odd! But with that nice break, we decided to tour the north island!

Because of that, I won't be able to write any new blogs until I get back to my computer in two weeks. So get prepared for a really long post! Or maybe series of posts. Get excited to read!

Los Angeles

We were stuck in LA until the next flight to Australia, leaving at midnight. What to do? Obviously, tour LA! We decided to take a bus tour of the city. I don't really have any desire to ever go back, so it was cool to see  all the famous sites.

It was a long tour. 

Then we went back to LAX, and while we were eating, we heard about the earthquake in Christchurch. I will leave the rest for another post, as I'm about to go help clean up from the earthquake. 

Don't count your chickens before they hatch

Well friends, it turns out I have a Monday the 21st after all. We were supposed to leave DTW at 5:35pm, but it was delayed from the ice, and so we didn't get to LAX until 9:45pm local time, just after our connecting flight to Melbourne. That was the last flight through V Australia (who we booked through) for the night. So, a VERY kind man (haha) told us we had to go back to the gate at 2pm Monday to TRY and book another flight. They gave us a discounted hotel near LAX.

At the hotel we called the travel group who booked our flight. They were very helpful and booked us a new flight to Australia. It doesn't leave until 11:45pm local time though, so we are stuck in LA for the day. We get to Brisbane 8am Wednesday. Then we have to wait until 6pm to fly to Christchurch. We will get there at 1am Thursday, not really the ideal time to move into a dorm, so who knows what will happen then.

I do know, though, that we will certainly miss all the orientation Wednesday. We were supposed to get to Christchurch at 3pm Tuesday. All the new student stuff was on Wednesday.

Our hotel and food for the day is going to be covered by insurance though, so at least that's something. And now I can say I truly experienced traveling.

Two weeks and counting!

Two Mondays from today, February 21st, will not exist for me. I will only experience a few hours of it, but those will be spent in the air. Flying over the international date line does that to you. I will be studying abroad at Lincoln University in Christchurch, New Zealand for four months.

I hope to post pictures and write stuff regularly while I'm gone. I tend to write and write and write though, so you are now officially warned! And please comment and write to me too. I love writing so don't be afraid!
